The Chasing Gains 4" Weightlifting Belt from 2POOD is made for athletes who want additional support during movements that place a high demand on the trunk. Its 4-inch width creates a consistent support area around the midsection for squats, deadlifts, cleans and jerks, and snatches.
The belt helps you create a more stable brace when engaging your core. It does not replace sound technique and should not be used to compensate for poor form. Use it once you have learned how to brace correctly and when the load or workout calls for additional confidence and stability.
When and how to wear it
2POOD recommends wearing a belt for heavy work, commonly around 80% of your one-repetition maximum, and for repetitive loaded movements. The right point to use a belt depends on your training, experience, and ability to control the movement safely.
- Position the belt above your hips and below your ribs, centred around your belly button.
- Tighten it securely while allowing yourself to breathe and brace effectively.
- Use it for movements such as squats, deadlifts, cleans and jerks, and snatches.
To secure the belt, feed the Velcro strap through the WODClamp, brace your core, and adjust the fit until it feels firm and secure. The WODClamp is designed to add security, reduce pressure on the Velcro strap, and make it easier to tighten or loosen the belt during a workout.
Choosing your size and fit
Measure around your belly button rather than around the waist of your trousers. Use a flexible tape measure and position it above your hip bones. If you are between sizes, the manufacturer recommends sizing down for a tighter brace. This model is 4 inches wide. If a 4-inch belt rides up into or over your ribs because you have a shorter torso or a small hip-to-rib ratio, a 3-inch belt may be more suitable.
The available configuration includes XXS, XS, S, M and L. Choose based on your actual measurement around the belly button rather than your usual clothing size. The product page also advises that many athletes size down by one from their trouser size, but the belly-button measurement should remain the main reference.
